spring at colonial williamsburg

several years ago, i had the honor of working with the colonial williamsburg foundation, creating a book on Williamsburg Style, and stayed in Thomas Jefferson's doctor's house in the historic district. spring mornings i would wander through the streets and take in all the architectural details, gate hardware, the picket fences and especially the gardens ...here are a few of my favorites.

  1. It is all very pristine and orderly but still with a sense of country. The white is just perfectly fitting.

  4. i love williamsburg!! and my two girls, actually like it as much as disney world.

on one of my visits, i ran into one of the gardeners, hard at work, and asked him a couple of questions. he was so nice. he spent an hour or so with me, walking through that garden discussing plants, alabama plants vs. virginia plants, old ways of growing vs. new...just one of my most fond memories.

thanks for the williamsburg post--i'm jealous you got to stay in one of the historic homes!!

nanne in indiana by way of alabama.
